ABOUT THE AWARDS

The LG Professionals WA Honour Awards aim to acknowledge, award, and celebrate passionate Local Government Officers who demonstrate an outstanding contribution to the Local Government industry. High quality performance and great achievements are often overlooked, passing by without acknowledgement in our fast-paced industry.

The LG Professionals WA Honour Awards aim to overcome this and will celebrate the great achievements of your colleagues and peers.


AWARD CATEGORIES

There are several LG Professionals WA Honour Awards:

Category Overview and Eligibility

Local Government plays a key role as a community enabler through providing opportunities, places, and spaces for their communities to meet, play, engage and prosper. This award recognises local governments that are taking proactive approaches to developing vibrant connected communities.

To recognise the varying size and scale of WA local governments, there are two categories of this award:

  • Population of up to 15,000
  • Population over 15,000

Eligibility

Nominations are open to all WA local governments.

Winner Obligations

The winner will be required to undertake publicity working with LG Professionals WA and may be asked to present at an associated event.

Category Overview and Eligibility

This award recognises initiatives that lead the way in management and leadership in local government, that improve local government processes and practices, and deliver outstanding benefits to the local government and/or the community.

To recognise the varying size and scale of WA local governments, there are two categories of this award:

  • Population of up to 15,000
  • Population over 15,000

Eligibility

Nominations are open to local governments or other organisations that partner with local government.

Winner Obligations

The winner will be required to undertake publicity working with LG Professionals WA and may be asked to present at an associated event.

Category Overview and Eligibility

This award highlights genuine and effective partnerships and collaborations that have delivered benefits for the local government and the community, and demonstrated a commitment to working with the community.

It recognises excellence in collaboration between local governments, community partnerships and partnerships created to provide or improve services that strengthen and enhance the physical or social infrastructure of a region, including integration with other spheres of government.

To recognise the varying size and scale of WA local governments, there are two categories of this award:

  • Population of up to 15,000
  • Population over 15,000

Eligibility

Nominations are open to all WA local governments.

The winner will be required to undertake publicity working with LG Professionals WA and may be asked to present at an associated event.

Category Overview and Eligibility

The Change Management ICT Professionals Award celebrates outstanding achievement while implementing new technologies in local government to drive continuous improvement and organisational success.

This award recognises exceptional leadership, strategic planning, innovative problem-solving and effective stakeholder engagement to seamlessly integrate new Information and Communications Technology, Audio Visual or Security Technologies, through local government projects and processes.

Recognition will be given to structured change management approaches that ensure technology systems and projects are implemented with minimal disruption while maintaining service continuity.

There will be two award category winners:

  • Local Government with a population of less than 15,000 people
  • Local Government with a population of more than 15,000 people

Eligibility

Nominations are open to both individuals and teams working in WA local governments.

Winner Obligation

The winner will be required to undertake publicity and promotional activities with LG Professionals WA and may be asked to present at an associated event.

Category Overview and Eligibility

The LG Professionals WA Medal Award is awarded to honoured members who have made outstanding achievements and contributed to the local government sector and LG Professionals WA. Their active leadership and outstanding contributions must be evident through innovation, advocacy, research, and leadership within WA local government. Up to one Medal is awarded each year.

Eligibility

A financial member of LG Professionals WA and at least 10 years of continuous membership; and evidence of outstanding achievements and contribution to local government sector and LG Professionals WA.

Winner Obligations

The winner will be required to undertake publicity working with LG Professionals WA and may be asked to present at an associated event.

Category Overview and Eligibility

This award recognises people who have given long-term service to local government and to LG Professionals WA, functioning at a high level of excellence. Up to two Meritorious Awards will be presented each year.

Eligibility

A financial member of LG Professionals WA; and a history of involvement in the work of LG Professionals WA.

Winner Obligations

The winner will be required to undertake publicity working with LG Professionals WA and may be asked to present at an associated event.

Category Overview and Eligibility

The Warlang Workplace Wellbeing Award recognises and celebrates local governments that excel in creating a supportive, inclusive, and empowering work environment through successful initiatives.

The criteria are designed to be measurable and focus on demonstrated success in the following areas: diversity and inclusion, safety and wellbeing, flexibility, and employee learning and development.

Local governments are encouraged to nominate for one or more of the following areas. Entries are open to all local governments in WA.

To recognise the varying size and scale of WA local governments, there are two categories of this award:

  • Population of up to 15,000
  • Population over 15,000

Supported by Department Local of Government, Industry Regulation and Safety

Category Overview and Eligibility

This award recognises leadership and management excellence of an emerging local government leader— someone who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to their community and whose performance is worthy of special recognition.

Evidence of leadership may include corporate process improvements, a project initiative, innovation in management and leadership practices, or demonstrated practicality and resourcefulness.

Eligibility

A financial member of LG Professionals WA; aged 35 years or younger and working in local government; and currently in a non executive role.

Winner Obligations

The winner will be required to undertake publicity working with LG Professionals WA and may be asked to present at an associated event.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

*LG Professionals WA Medal, Meritorious and Emerging Leader of the Year must include a photo of the person nominated

  • For each nomination refer to the criteria and address each in the online nomination form
  • A maximum of 6 colour images may be included
  • Submissions must include an Executive Summary
  • Short video links may be included
  • Each criteria must be addressed on the awards platform with a maximum of 600 words per criteria, with no additional support documents allowed.
